Doctors in Vancouver have begun giving out free smack on the taxpayers' dime.

Take that, upper-middle class citizens in Canada! Not only do you have to pay for the miserable, self-caused, health problems of the Quebecois, but now you get to pay for the joneses of junkies!

Proponents have cited their belief that heroin-related crime will drop because junkies can merely go to the doctor three times a day, seven days a week to get their fix rather than assault people for money. Junkies believe that the government is merely trying to kill them (yeah, because the government forced you to take it in the first place).

This has to be one of the dumbest ideas in the history of dumb ideas, right up there with land wars in Asia. Keeping users and abusers on the Beast will do nothing more than keep them on the dole, not that Canada has ever been in a hurry to rehabilitate the lives of welfare-recipients. If junkies are assualting people, how about you throw them in jail? This program is nothing more than a defeatest approach to drugs. The junkies will never quit, they reason, so let's just aid their addiction so they don't kill each other or themselves. What a ridiculous extension of the ridiculous nanny state.
